Utilization of waste heat

Rembrandt Project

Since 2003, PDI has focused on seeking out other technologies to effectively and ecologically use energy contained in waste. It therefore prepared the REMBRANDT study for the Central Bohemian Region, which examined the use of plasma gasification technology to recover energy from waste in the Mladoboleslav region in cooperation with the American Solena Group. The project was intended to process 100,000 tons of mixed municipal waste. Electricity was to have been sold into the grid while the heat was to have been used to heat water in a planned aqua park. In 2006, PDI purchased the land of the former Zálužany farm in the village of Kosmonosy to implement the project. However, the project failed to obtain the necessary zoning permit with the official reason for rejection being "traffic congestion".
